About

A model neighborhood in which to live, work, conduct business and enjoy a variety of leisure activities.

Creation

Lincoln Park Community Center, Inc (LPCC) is a non-profit organization composed of neighborhood residents, community leaders, governmentagencies, as well as concerned individuals. It all began in 1986 with RuthVarnado, who was a banker and Earl Read, who worked for a railroad company. These founders met via People United, a small, short lived
grassroots social services non-profit in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As the two of them discussed how best to address urgent social problems that no organizations were servicing, their conviction lead them to form LPCC. They left behind the security of their previous careers with the vision of forming a non-profit organization to significantly improve the challenging social and economic conditions in the communities they were to faithfully serve. So it was that in 1988, the doors of LPCC were first opened and their steadfast vision was implemented over the span of two decades.
