The Lincoln Park Community

The Lincoln Park neighborhood occupies a middle ground between the suburbs and the central city. It shares characteristics of both and is a unique blend of diverse cultures. Situated on Milwaukee’s far Northeast Side, the area’s boundaries run north to Silver Spring Drive, south to Cornell and Ruby Streets, west to Teutonia Avenue and East to the Milwaukee River and the City of Glendale. Within its borders one of the largest industrial districts contrasts with the largest area of green space in the region. Over the years local institutions have changed as the culture mix changed, but the home-oriented character has stayed the same since the neighborhood’s early days. The focal point of the area is the park for which it was named, an impressive asset which caters to a broad spectrum of interests. Lincoln Park, with its manicured golf course, picnic areas, swimming pool, tot lot, youth center, and soccer, football and baseball fields, is one of the most attractive parks in the county. The houses in Lincoln Park neighborhood are primarily single family units. The blocks north of Hampton Avenue are characterized by quiet, tree lined streets and well kept homes. Some of the houses date from the 1920s and earlier, but the many Cape Cods indicate post World War II development. The area south of Hampton is partof the old inter urban corridor.
